JAMES C. HARWOOD, President
HARWOOD MANAGEMENT GROUP INC.

James Harwood is the Founder and President of Harwood Management Group Incorporated, a diversified arts management organization encompassing multiple aspects of the performing arts industry.  At present, the primary focus of the company is building and managing the careers of a roster of some sixty singers, conductors and stage directors. Since its inception, Harwood Management has made a point of working in conjunction with agents from other countries to help procure engagements for its artists.  Other areas of endeavor include private career development consultations, master classes, and seminars.  The rapid growth of Harwood Management can be attributed to innovative techniques, creative marketing and the ability to attract talented artists.  In keeping with the times, Harwood Management maintains an active website chronicling the roster’s activities.

Harwood Management Group works in association with HR Artists Management, a division for artists working on Broadway and related commercial areas.  Some of Jim’s recent activities include conducting clinics at the Banff School of Fine Arts, Opera North, the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, the Manhattan School of Music, the Mannes Schools of Music, the University of Michigan and various opera companies and music institutions throughout the USA.  Jim has been a judge for many competitions in the Northeast, and is Artistic Advisor to the Massachusetts International Festival of the Arts.

Born in Springfield, Massachusetts, Jim is a graduate of the University of Michigan, New England Conservatory and Columbia University where he honed his skills as a woodwind performer and music educator.  He has had an extensive career as a performer of both jazz and classical music, as a conductor, and music educator in private schools, colleges and public institutions and fund raiser for various orchestras.  With this background in the various music fields he decided to turn his hand to arts management.
